Everchanging Weather

One minute the sun was out and beautiful and sunny, and then it all changed.  Isabelle and I were at the park (for about 10 minutes) before we heard the loud thunderclaps and the beginning of rain.  We drove home which was about 2 mins away and it started pouring.  Little did we know how bad the storm to hit Melbourne was about to come.  We drove off to Watergardens so Lachlan could buy himself a phone and whilst we were gone Paul stayed home and captured some of the hailstones we got.  Most were as big as golfballs but it does look like it snowed here.  We had the storm follow us to Watergardens and we tried to rush to the car without getting soaked after our shopping but the umbrella didnt do very much.  On our way home it looked as though Melton had a few new lakes develop.  Our local creek overflowed and we had to practically stop to drive through the amount of water on the road.  Luckily our windows didnt break but Paul was actually worried that they might do so and he loves storms so it must have been pretty bad.  I woke up this morning and noticed a wet patch on our ceiling in the kitchen.  Paul got up in the roof when he got home from work and discovered that water had been leaking into the roof via the tv antenna.  His ladder is too short to get up on the roof so he will try and silicone it when he gets it from his mate.  He did soak up the water in there so far and we are expecting another storm later on today so I am hoping it isnt as bad as yesterday as I dont want anymore water in the roof.  Paul said because there was so much water it went into places it doesnt normally go.  Our bullnose verandah apparently had water gushing out the top of it because there was so much.  Apparently we got about 60mm of rain here so it was a lot!  Hope your all staying nice and dry if you were in Melbourne and didnt suffer too much damage from the storm.  I am off to go and knit a little bit on those blue socks now since they were supposed to be finished in February.

Oh my goodness, I hope the storm you are expecting today is just a bit of rain and that is all.

Yikes! I hope things have all cleared up now. Water is a funny thing -- just the smallest bit in the wrong place can cause big problems!

I'm glad you, your family and your home are safe. Very strange weather indeed. Semi-arid Broken Hill got its annual rainfall in one day this past week! Strange indeed!

Wow, this is so typical of Melbourne weather. Absolutely unexpected. It sure finds the holes in the roof!!!
Cheers Gillian

Wow!!!! We were hit pretty bad on the Sunday arvo too with 3 sheds being blown away and all of the trees surrounding the house being striped of their big branches, very sad indeed.. I guess if you look on the bright side of it we did get 2 inches of rain out of the down pour, gotta be greatful for that, hey...

I'm so glad to hear that all of you guys are safe.........

Hope your weather calmed down!
BTW, last time we had hail stones - my friends mom tried to cover her car with blanket but she ended up with few bruises! Car got off worse!
