December!

Where has the time gone, it was only October wasnt it when we had to write a post everyday I'm sure. Well I have been busy with things for Isabelle and her dancing. She is in an end of year concert which requires a few hours practice on Thursdays and Fridays, plus swimming lessons on Wednesday and put in a lot of work at school and she has been so very tired lately. Lachlan finishes Year 10 on Friday so he will popping off to help his dad out with some plastering work (more like cleaning and lifting things I think)!
I have been busy putting new plants in the garden to replace the ones that died when we had that awful heat. Now this picture is one of our pot plants that Paul put the compost into. Imagine our surprise when we got a lot of tomato plants in every pot (4 of them to be exact). Now I will have some delicious homegrown tomatoes soon. Can you spy the little red one already on the bush! Lachlan's oregano has taken off too so we are going to give it a trim and dehydrate some in dad's dehydrator machine and hopefully grind some up for use on pizzas and other things.

I have been busy knitting away and pulling out some UFO's. A nice little jacket is nearly complete, one sleeve to go after this one and the hood and bands and hopefully it will be ready for the weekend. I popped into Spotlight last week with mum and found some more shirred fabric to make Isabelle a dress. I was really looking for some navy but found this nice purple and green one. I will try and sew it up tonight after swimming lessons! Nice and cool for summer weather!

We also set up the Christmas tree on the weekend. Isabelle had helped my sister out with her's (where the bottom snapped off so it is in a bucket with fabric wrapped around it and looks quite xmasy too) and then was so tired of decorating that I had to do most of it myself. I told her next year we would do ours the weekend after my sister so she could help with both. She really does love xmas and has been excited this week to open up the little window in her advent calendar to find her chocolate. Lachlan is now too old to get those calendars (it makes me sad knowing he is growing up and wont do those things now) so I should enjoy Isabelle's excitement for a few years before she stops too. Okay to knit and sew!

New Fabrics

Look at the cute fabrics I bought from Corrie's shop. The elephant one is for me, but I dont have a project planned for it as yet. The Hello Kitty fabric, well you would all know by now that Isabelle loves this fabric, and I plan to make a bag for her out of it. Perhaps I can sew one up in the next few days and pop it in with her birthday presents for Monday. I really cannot believe she will be turning 6! It seems as though the time has just flown by.

I also bought some trims. The owl one is my favourite. I just realised that they match Project Spectrum too. I have been very slack in knitting and sewing in the selected colors for the month. This period is orange, brown and purple. I do have knits in all those colors and I really should get my camera out and blog about them, but lately I have been all over the place and not really accomplishing much. Maybe I need to get the camera out and blog about them next week. Yes, I think I shall and maybe get motivated to get a move on too. I am hoping to pull out the Jethro Jacket for Paul and complete the back of it at least. I have not knit on it for quite a while, and it is sitting in that notorious WIP basket. Maybe I need to give it a clean out and decide what to finish. I have finished knitting the baby jacket I started on Saturday, but it needs seaming. I am trying to finish the sleeve on another one too so I can do them both at the same time. Well enough waffling on from me. I have to get myself off the computer and do some present wrapping, and hopefully some crafting too. Happy knitting!

Apples & Pears!

I received my pear and apple fabric last week, and thought what a great idea for a bag. I made up my own pattern, and whipped it up about half an hour ago, cut it out and stitched it together on the machine. The pear fabric is actually pockets on both sides, and I really do love it. I bought mine from Sarah who always sells such beautiful fabrics and vintage chenille too. This will be great for toting along my knitting projects and the pattern book too, just the perfect size.

I also finished up my other dishcloth, and I really love the colors in this one, as they are totally different to the other two colorways. The bright orange dishcloth was tested out in the shower by Isabelle who loved using it to wash her face. I will have to keep the green one for me I think, and knit up a few more. I also finished Lachlan's beanie as you see above, and it is a perfect fit. The pattern was actually from a Lincraft pamphlet that my mum had so it came in very handy. Lachlan and I also finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was a great book, although I am sad that there will be no more adventures to read. Well that is about all for now as I am off to sew up the baby pink jacket. I finished knitting the hood last night, and it took so long because I got bored with it, but picked it back up last night and finished it off. Now to sew in the zipper and hopefully tomorrow I can post it for you all to see. Happy knitting!
