Day 11 .....

is Isabelle and her hobby horse. Grades 1 and 2 made Hobby Horses which were displayed at the Royal Melbourne Show with some of the real horses there. Each hobby horse was given an actual equestrian horse's name and rider. Isabelle had Don Quixote and the Rider was Ann Tate who won in 1953. My sister took Isabelle's photo alongside her horse at the show but hasnt downloaded them onto her computer yet. When she does I will try to remember to post it. The hobby horses turned out so nicely. They used wool for the mane, felt for the ears and eyes, some googly eyes and they painted the horses head and stuffed. I cant remember what they used for the actual head but I am quite sure it was recycled from something. Isabelle has been riding it around the house and in the front garden too, lovely when the sunshine is out as it was this morning. Now it is gray and overcast with huge drops of rain falling!
What else have I been doing - getting the souvlaki boned lamb into the oven for dinner tonight. Our local butcher has just started selling them at his shop. Homemade souvlakis are very nice to eat. I am also going to find some yarn to test knit the Military Cardigan Jacket for reddogknits.wordpress.com. I am thinking since my nephew turns 6 this month it might be a nice gift instead of toys although I am quite sure he would prefer the toys, lol! Okay now to find something to post tomorrow, ooh yes those terrible UFO's - I can hear them calling my name ....

The hobby horse is fantastic! i used to have one as a child and always loved it. Being clumsy, i also tripped up on it a lot!!

You asked me about the Nintendo DS case I'm making - I am using this pattern http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=31851086. It has photos with the instructions and looks pretty easy to follow. Plus it has pockets for about 8 different games!

What a cool hobby horse -- very creative and I love the bright colors. I'm afraid I don't know what souvlaki is -- we don't have that hear that I know of!
