Swift!!

My new swift arrived today.  It didnt take very long to be posted to me as I only ordered it last week!  I was so excited that I immediately got Paul to set it up (which is super simple) and I started winding up skeins and have done 6 so far. I really do love it and you can adjust the size too for different skeins.  The skein on there is one from Lush and I think the color is tomato.  If you are thinking of ordering one then you can buy them from Petlins
I have also been managing to do some knitting too.  I started the pattern of Ishbel (scarf size) 2 days ago and last night I checked my stitches for the st-st part and realised I was 1 stitch out.  I couldnt work out where it was so I RIPPED it all back and started again.  I then did a little chart saying how many stitches I should have had at the end of each row so there were no mistakes and thankfully I reknit the 50+ rows again last night.  Now I am up to the vine pattern which is scheduled to take place tonight.  If it all works out okay I will be knitting another in a light blue color for Paul's grandmother who will be 90 in April!  I really do hope she will love it.
Oh and I have to say thank you to everyone who sent Lachie birthday wishes too.  Now I will be dealing with a son who wants to get his learner's permit and be driving .... oh my god can I handle him being out there on the road.  Well  I will have to make sure he has lots of lessons.
Okay off to knit to calm my nerves.

I'm so thrilled to see that the swift worked itself out! I would have posted a suggestion if I had one to offer! I love windgn up yarn myself, feels like something getting accomplished ...

I just cast on for Ishbel too (scarf size) ;) It's my very first lace shawl. I've done lace patterns before but just as edging and never with lace yarn. I'm nervous about making a mistake and having to rip it.. do you count every row to make sure you have the right amount of stitches?

I have to get myself a swift - I usually go up to Moms to use hers

THat's really cool! I can remember when I was little that Mum would get me to wind the skeins around my arms while she helped hold everything - she would have LOVED a swift!

*lol* I have a 29 year old husband on his L-plates and his advanced age doesn't make it any easier (especially when he mixes up the brake and the accelerator!).

I am intensely jealous of your new swift. I'm going to have to get one one of these days...

I bet you have been going through your stash to find more skeins to turn into balls.
Having a swift is the best thing. I am sure it is greatly appreciated by your family. My oldest loves the swift. No more holding yarn for mother.
Make sure that Lachie drives his sister wherever she wants to go.LOL

What a cool gadget. I wish my Mum had one of those when we were growing up, I remember the sore arms holding the wool for her to roll up.

Wow, it makes my homemade table top version look very un-stylish! But it was made with love by WM so who am I to complain?
