Lush! Lush! Lush!

I couldnt resist the pink lucky dip at Lush yarns the other week.  The blue and green lucky dips were gone and after seeing what people got in theirs I thought I would try my luck with the pinks!  Turns out it was a good choice, beautiful colors in the surprise package.  From left to right we have Miley, Polly and Little Princess.  They are all silk/merino yarns which was what I used in my first sock club package and it was beautiful to knit with and wear too, lol!  I must not knit with these yet however as I still have nearly 1 sock left to knit from my April sock club and then the May package will be arriving soon too so maybe these can just be yarns to snuggle and look at for a little while.  I havent been knitting on the sock as I have been knitting an Olearia for Isabelle which is halfway done.  I hope to have it finished by the weekend so she can perhaps wear it soon when this weather makes up its mind.  One day sunny, the next rainy, and then freezing cold and gray the next.  Well we do live in Melbourne and they say it changes all the time, I should be used to it by now shouldnt I.

On the weekend we also went to Paul's grandmother's 90th birthday.  It was very nice and she caught up with some people she had not seen for at least 20 years.  She is just a gorgeous tiny little lady whom I love very much and I hope to one day be able to attend her 100 year birthday too.  She just never ages or changes which is just so wonderful.  Now I must start knitting her something special for her birthday as she said no pressies at the party, but didnt mention anything about later on did she!  I am sure she will love it if I knit her something, maybe a nice blanket for her to use in her recliner as I dont really think she wears shawls, although perhaps a nice simple one without lace would be nice for her to wear.  Any suggestions ......

Beautiful yarn! I wish I could suggest something for a grandmother gift, but I'm never any good with things like that. She sounds like a wonderful woman!

oh yummy pinks! they look edible! great idea for a shawl, just something to throw over her shoulders when she gets cold. there are some lovely garter stitch based ones out there at the moment, with or without lace edging. my favourite is the aestlight by gudrun johnson...i have the pattern....

Love that yarn! A Faroese shawl is a nice non fussy sort of shawl. But I think your idea of a blanket is a good one.

thumb up for blanket! Love that idea! Plus, maybe a brooch (sewn, crocheted or knitted, whatever)!

Love those yarns, so yum. My first thought for a shawl is the Wool Peddler's Shawl from Folk Shawls by Cheryl Oberle. There is a lace edge, but it's not at all fussy lace. Or, like someone said above, Faroese works well. I made a pretty simple one from Shawls and Scarves: Best of Knitters Magazine. In any case, enjoy! :)

Pretty yarns! They look totally snuggly. I know exactly what you mean when you say that. ;-)

Lap blankets are always a good idea for old folks. Go for it!

Lovely yarn. The weather is unpredictable here too - very cold in the morning & blazing sun in the afternoon.
