2011 - Item 2

Yesterday Paul, Isabelle and I went to visit some friends in Tylden. It was a beautiful day. The guys went fishing and we went to Kyneton. I had to go and see the new yarn shop in Piper Street, and oh my goodness what wonderful things inside. I could have spent hours in there just looking at all the beautiful yarns and patterns. I finally decided to purchase the Araucania yarn up above as I couldnt resist the handpainted colors. I havent decided on a pattern as yet so it might be one of those on the shelves I can sit and admire for a while! I did ask if they had online shopping and the daughter of the store explained it is coming in the future. I didnt think their wool or needles were too expensive to others I have seen around which is nice. I think another visit one day will be handy where I can stay as long as like to have a proper look. I also bought a knitting book, Little Stars in Stripes by Sirdar (another children's book) which is very nice too.

I also happened to finish my second project for the year, even though all the knitting for it was done in December! This is Little Blossom, by Alan Dart. I have to admit I didnt like knitting with the Snowflake yarn one bit on 3mm needles but the results are quite cute. I didnt do the daisies either but I think it looks cute without them. This is going to be given to Isabelle as she seems to like it and I dont have plans to ever knit another one anytime soon. I really liked knitting the Snuggly DK parts and really they dont take too long to knit up. I have to remember next time to measure when sewing on the ears as I did one further back than the other and showed it to my friend wondering why it looked strange and she started laughing about how I hadnt measured them to be the same. I had to laugh too as I really dont measure things for toys when sewing them together but I think this mistake will make sure I do again next time!
Pattern: Little Blossom by Alan Dart
Yarn: Sirdar Snowflake and Sirdar Snuggly DK in dark pink, white and light pink
Time to Knit: About 3 days all up on and off
Now off to finish my sister's scarf as her birthday is on Saturday so I want it finished before then!

I've been wanting to knit blossom with some snuggly I have in my stash. I'll have to have a look at that pattern again.

Little Blossom is so cute! I also do not like knitting with that kind of yarn, but it does make cute toys.

She is definitely a cutie, but I don't envy you the Snowflake knitting either. She is beautifully dressed!!
