My parents and I decided to take a little road trip this morning after taking Isabelle to school to Bendigo. Mum and I wanted some yarn, although I had nothing particular in mind. We arrived in just over an hour so it was a great trip. We arrived at BWM just after 10:00 and guess what, not a single other person was in there. Mum and I went about 2 years ago when there was a bus trip visiting, so there was hardly any room but we had it all to ourselves today. The back room didnt have a great deal of goodies that I wanted, but I did manage to snatch up a few odd 200 gm balls to make some hats. I purchased 1 200 gm ball of 8 ply tuscan, 1 200gm ball of wineberry, and 1 200gm ball of chocolate brown all from the back room for a discounted price. I also bought a ball of 4 ply cotton in driftwood which is exactly the color in the photo.
In the second photo I bought 11 balls of 8 ply in geranium to knit Isabelle a sweater and a lovely 10 ply mauve packet for another of Isabelle's knits. The mauve only cost $2.00 a ball, and the geranium was $3.00 a ball, so it was nice to grab some bargains. My mum went overboard and bought 3 adult sweaters worth of yarn (not from the back room) and two pairs worth of Miami sock yarn. She seems to be on a knitting sock adventure at the moment and has knit up 3 pairs in the last two weeks.
Bendigo was beautiful today with the sun shining and not a cloud in the sky. The pastures were green too, and there were lots of lambs and goats running around in the sunshine. We even stopped at the apple place and I bought some nice crunchy apples and beautiful red tomatoes which were grown just around the corner from the shop. I also bought some mandarines, even though I am the only person who eats them. Everything looked so nice to eat.
As soon as we got back towards Gisborne though the beautiful weather was gone and it was cloudy and cold again. At least it stayed nice for our little road trip.
Well that is it for my little adventure today, and now to find some hidey places for the yarn to go. Perhaps I need to be like the Yarn Harlot and start hiding it in the gravy dish! Have a great day.

Wow! What fun and what a haul! I wish I was closer and could go shopping like that!!
its a bit hit and miss but so worth it...you did well! I'm using the lovely charisma I bought last time I was there and wish I'd known you were going as I'd have asked you to keep your eyes open for it...I'm hoping to get a trip in before the babies arrive....mind you hubby thinks we can still make long trips with 3 kiddies...sure!

Sounds like a great day Sue! I am not familiar with the yarn you bought but I do love the colours. Get knitting woman!
Sounds like you had a wonderful road trip!
Isabelle is a lucky girl to be getting two new sweaters in such gorgeous colours!
Glad it was a good time and that you got some yarn to bring home!
Wool deals and sunny weather, sounds perfect! And I love the sweater in your previous post, and the kitten is adorable!

Wow, you did really well. I'll definitely make a trip sometime when I make it home next. I'd love some of their laceweight. It's supposed to be very good. :-)

What a great day!
Ooo! You're making me even more excited about my trip down south next week - three nights in Wangaratta, three nights in Bendigo [including the Sheep and Wool Show].
Hope they have some bargains left for me!
