2008 - FO No. 43

Christmas is nearing so I thought I would try knitting one of the gnomes to see how long it took me. I have always loved seeing these little fellows knit up and really wanted to try one out. After knitting on and off on Saturday I finally finished his body parts, although through a mistake of my own I had to reknit one arm last night. Knitting 8 ply yarn on 3mm needles does make your arms ache after a while though. I couldnt find any white fur yarn for his beard so I popped into Kmart where they had some grey and brown (future gnome beard) for $1.00 a ball. I grabbed 2 of each and headed home to finish him off. Luckily I already had some beads to pop into his behind so he does sit up nicely too. I am thinking of knitting up some more now. I did discover that if you just seam up his hand then turn it right side out and stuff before you finish seaming the arm it is much easier. I did the same for the legs too. Now just to select some more colors for the next one.
Pattern: Alan Dart Yuletide Gnomes
Started: November 1st and finished November 2nd
Yarn: Spotlight Pure New Wool, gray, red and cream, not even one ball of each color
1 pipecleaner to insert into hat
Beard - Fluffy yarn from K-Mart

He's soooo cute! I've wondered how long it would take to make one of these. Let me see - it took you 1 day that means it probably would take me 2 weeks - LOL

Love him. I started one a while back but didn't think I was reading the pattern right. Maybe I can email you when I get around to him again? :)
