I Did Promise

a post or two ago that I would start updating my projects, so here goes for the first one.
Geno from Young Rowan. This is for Isabelle in the size 9-10 years which should have a bit of growing room but hopefully not be too big. I am knitting it in the Bendigo 4 ply in the same chocolate brown in the photo. I finished up the back last night and now I am starting the fronts which have the pattern on them. It should make for interesting knitting, although knitting on 3mm needles does make my elbows ache a little after a while.

Next up is the Child's First Sock and I have to say that I love the pattern on these. I am knitting these for Isabelle too as she has been asking for socks for quite a while and I have to say that I havent knit her any apart from the lace ones in kindergarten (3 years ago now) so I thought I would try these out. I am knitting these out of Baby Shepherd 4 ply wool. It is quite nice and soft and they have such lovely bright colors too. It is hard to find nice solid sock yarn so this is a perfect substitute. I am just past the heel on the first one now so perhaps today they might get some more knit on them. I havent been knitting a lot this past week as it has been extremely hot (in the 40's) everyday. Mum and Dad popped over to my sister's on Thursday and her garden thermometer said 51 degrees. No wonder I felt like I was melting away. I think the worst part was having the evaporative cooling on every single day and night, although it was quite frustrating when the power went out. I am so glad the kids didnt go back to school last week. They do return tomorrow so I am going to be doing my ironing to reduce the pile somewhat. Not my favourite chore but I thought I would do it whilst watching the tv shows whilst the kids arent here.
I just wanted to say to you all how pleased I was that you all loved Magoo Monkey. I think that is the most comments I have ever received on this blog so I am very happy to have received every one of them. We love comments here you know and I know that some people dont like to leave comments on blogs. I think it is nice to leave a kind word as it does let people know that you like what they make and let them know you are reading what they post too.
I will return later next week after the kids have settled in a bit with some new knitting books (yes I cant help myself) I bought the other week.

That must be 40 celsius :) It would be hard to knit in that heat!
Lucky Isabelle, she is going to have some beautiful knits when you're done.

I found some nice solid coloured yarn in the Cascade Fixation range; it's cotton and elastic not wool.

Can't wait to see Geno in the brown! How are you finding knitting the fronts? I found that I was constantly losing my place with this pattern!

btw...doesn't the model have a look of Isabelle? :)

I really love that Child's First Sock pattern, I found that it knit up a little on the small side, but since you're not knitting for a large foot that shouldn't matter!

I agree with the comments, I find that Bloglines can make people (including myself!) rather lazy when it comes to leaving comments.

yep sue I'm a commenter! I'd love to reply back to your comments but for some reason it doesn't bring up your email to reply to! but I always love seeing what you're doing because you always start and finish projects in a short period of time and I'm in awe of that!

good to see you're sewing too

I have just recently discovered your blog so this is my first comment. May I please ask where you got the child's first sock pattern? I would love to try it. If it is to be in a book that you are publishing, I'll wait--but not patiently. Thanks for the information and especially for the entertaining blog!
