Day 6 ......

is the boss of the house! Miss Meg who is now 11 years old and still looks beautiful. I think she is Paul's favourite and she knows how to get what she wants from him too which is quite funny sometimes, wish I had that same talent! I bought her from a pet shop in Werribee Plaza a long time ago, when Lachlan was about 5 years old as the grey kitten he had was stolen when it was only about 10 months old. He was so upset about it but we werent looking to buy another kitten. We just happened to have a look and I love grey cats so she was perfect. Lachlan did decide which one though as there were 3 at the time. When we lived at Paul's parents for a while whilst building this house, Meg became firm friends with their little dog, Benny. It was so funny as she would lie down and wait for him to find her, although if she knew people were watching her she would pretend to hiss and scratch him. Poor Benny didnt know what to make of it you know as he was about 14 years old and could hardly see properly anyway, must of thought it was another hairy little dog who didnt smell as bad! Anyway when we moved into our house Meg ran away. I was so distraught thinking she had been hit somewhere and left to die, but 2 weeks later there was a strange meowing at the kichen window when I was washing the dinner dishes. I ran to the side door and in stepped Meg all bushy looking and covered in grasses and prickles. Obviously she had been roaming around in the paddocks chasing field mice and decided to come home! We were all so happy that she had come back to us. Now she just sunbakes in the front garden (which I think is just a trick - if a strange cat comes in the yard she chases them out like a guard dog, hissing and scratching until they go). She sleeps in the garage at night on her special shelf with the sheepskin which she loves. I am sure that Max tries to steal it from her sometimes as I catch him taking a nap there when she is out. Okay I promise tomorrow to dig out the UFO's and take some pictures, although I have to find the patterns to go with some of them. I did actually start knitting on an old UFO last night which I started earlier this year and I have decided to gift it to a little girl who turns 1 in December. I dont think it will fit her for quite a while though!

I have never had a cat and I don't understand their nature at all. I cannot believe that Meg was away from home for 2 weeks and came home prickly but fine. They are so self sufficient.

I totally get the cat love thing Sue! I'm totally obsessed with my cat Lucy. Thing is she's not the kindest snugglest cat in the world but I love her all the same (my partner thinks I greet her more excitedly that i do him lol). x Thanks for visiting my blog. I'll be popping back to yours!
