Fa Fa Fa......

socks!  These are my 2nd pair for 2010 that I started last night.  They are a free pattern but I will have to check the pattern to see who the designer is.  I just love the cables although it is a bit fiddly bringing the last 2 stitches back into knit but I did get used to the pattern easily enough!  I am using Cascade Heritage sock yarn in the beautiful bright blue as it looks in the picture.  I knit a pair for my sister last year using a grass green color and they turned out so beautifully I couldnt resist buying some more to knit.  I have to tell you that I went through some skeins of sock yarn yesterday to wind up and ended up winding 5 skeins up to knit with.  Last year I sort of had an addiction to Knitabulous sock yarn and ended up with 9 skeins of it.  I am thinking that maybe a lot of the 12 pairs will be knit from those skeins (only problem - Isabelle wants some gorgeous pink and I dont have any pinks at all) so maybe later on in the year I might purchase some to knit her birthday socks.  August is a long way off for now!

I am looking forward to knitting along with a few friends on these socks.  Katt inspired me to join her in knitting socks for the year and now Gillian and Sandra have joined in too, how wonderful!  I look forward to seeing what they knit.  If you want to join in too just let me know, you dont have to knit 12 pairs - you could knit less or more, whatever you choose.

Okay onto other lovely things.  Tomorrow is my god-daughter's birthday and she is turning 2!  I wont be able to pop in and see her tomorrow so I am giving her her birthday present today.  I bought her some little books, some dress up shoes, a sunhat and some hairclips.  I also bought her a dress from Jodie who makes gorgeous peasant style dresses.  This is a size 3 so Miss Chelsea will surely have room in it and I am so loving the turtles on the fabric.  I had no idea what fabric Jodie had chosen, only one request for it to be purple and she came through with flying colors in making it perfect too.  If you need a little dress for your lovely daughter, niece or friend then pop over and visit her.  She doesnt take very long to make them either and it arrived today after only ordering it last week too!

Today I am off to maybe try and finish up a little baby top I am knitting for a friend who had a little girl last week.  It is turning out nicely and hopefully I can finish it before this weekend.  Lachie is turning 16 on Saturday and has 3 friends arriving, plus Paul has his mate and his son staying for 2 nights too so it will be a boy filled household.  I am sure I will be kept busy feeding them all.  Isabelle is going to escape with her cousin for a girl's weekend to her nan's who lives by the beach and will surely enjoy 4 days away enjoying the sun.  I hope it isn't hot like today, reaching a top of 45 degrees today!!
Stay cool if you live somewhere hot today, and if you live where it snows then I am sure you would love it here.  Too bad we cant swap weather with our friends isnt it.!!!
