Farmyard Girls and Tractor Boys!

Yesterday mum and I were going to make the trip up to Bendigo showgrounds but since I havent been totally feeling 100% we decided to make a quick trip to Williamstown to Stitchery Blue in Ferguson Street.

This shop is a knitter's paradise and full of wonderful yarns and books, needles and notions.  It was quite busy yesterday with lots of people there.  They also sell patchwork fabrics, beautiful quilts and other goodies.  I even spied a set of Addi circular needles but they were out of my price range unfortunately.  If  I see something online that I want I usually wait until I visit this store and they have it in person for me to look at and decide if I really want it.  This is great for me as I usually like to see all the patterns in a knitting book before buying it.

Anyway back to the book above.  It is by Sirdar and it is called Farmyard Girls and Tractor Boys and is full of patterns that I really like, nothing too hard but simple and effective.  It is knit in an aran yarn which is beautiful and soft and is on 5mm needles so it does go a bit quicker.  I am knitting Isabelle the cabled beret in the bottom middle picture but I do see quite a few other things I would like to make too.  The one great thing about this book is it goes up to 13 years which is perfect for my little miss.  Hopefully today the beret will be finished and she can model it tomorrow.  I am also doing a test knit pattern for a lady at the moment and I am nearly up to the sleeves but I cant show you all yet.  It is a girl's pattern and just beautiful.  I am hoping mine turns out just as great.

The only downside to all this knitting is that I seem to have knitter's elbow after knitting on Citron for a solid 2 weeks along with Isabelle's sock.   I think I might need to rest it a bit more than what I do. I am hoping it will go away by itself.  I have started doing stretching exercises but it doesnt seem to help so much.  I need to stop knitting for 1 or 2 hour periods at night time instead of getting to the stage where my arm aches so much I can hardly move it at all until the next day, otherwise I wont be able to knit at all and I cant get to that stage can I.  I think I would be devastated if that happened.  Okay now I am off to finish the beret (with breaks of course, lol!)

Oh, yay, that's my local too! Well, not only local when I work a few doors up, but I too like the hands on buying bit. And she has a bargain bin! Last time she told me about a cable course, tempted....I looked at that book last time I was there, so nice! Still going with my dress, will post an update soon.

Oh how funny that we both could have been in the same place at the same time. That looks like a brilliant book. Might just have to hunt it down. Some one gave me a copy of 'Vintage Baby Knits' yesterday which is divine but the largest size is 18 months which is too small for anyone around here.
I hope your arm feels better soon. Maybe try icing it and rubbing an anti inflam on it. Happy Sunday.

What a beautiful looking book! Even if you never knit anything out of it I imagine the styling and photos would give a lot of entertainment.

I will have to search out that shop next time I'm in Melbourne.

Oh I hope it feels better soon. I like to do that to where I look at something in person to find out whether it is something I would actually want. Then I purchase it online for cheaper.

Ouch! I had a knitting related injury (can't quite remember what it was called, something with phlebotomy anyway!) last September, probably caused by knitting too much and being too tense while knitting - yes I know, how is that possible ;-) Didn't knit for a week and that was a LOOOONG week.
