Day 28

Lace and Leaves sweater and cap set 2

Lace and Leaves sweater and cap set 1
I was rather busy on the weekend knitting away on these baby sets which are oh so cute.  I had seen the pattern on ravelry and really wanted to try it but didnt know where to buy the pattern from.  My mum informed me that the Fox Collection had a new catalogue and what did I find in there, the pattern for these sets.  It arrived last Friday and I promptly cast on the burgundy one in Smoothie DK which knit up easily in 2 days.  Then I decided I would knit another one out of some yarn that I have had for about 14 years now.  They both turned out beautifully and the best thing about this pattern is that you just change the needle size and the thickness of your yarn and you get a different sized garment.  There is also a blanket to match and a bonnet if you prefer.  My mum is trying out the blanket at the moment for a baby gift!  There is also another cute pattern and hat or bonnet at the back of the booklet so I will show you that one once I have finished it.  I knit a sleeve today at the new knitting group I am attending and it was rather pleasant with a different vibe to the nighttime one.  One of the ladies actually lives near me so maybe one day we will have a knit together afternoon.  At least my Thursday mornings will be filled with knitting and chatting!

Project:  No. 36 and 37
Pattern:  Lace & Leaves sweater and cap pattern by Jeannine LaRoche
Needle Size:  4mm
Yarn:  Smoothie DK and 8 ply crepe for the yellow one
Started:  Friday 22nd October and finished today
Buttons are from my stash.

They are really. really gorgeous Sue!
I just love the leaves in the hat and on the collar.
I cannot believe you knitted them both so quickly.
I'm so pleased to hear there are lots of lovely knitting ladies around for you to hang out with.

Such a cute pattern! But I am a sucker for pretty much anything with knitted leaves on it!

How very cute! I believe you love knitting, as do I. I have a retro men's Patons Knitting Pattern No. R.14 for giveaway on my blog at the moment. It is old and tattered but they just don't make them like the used to! Come and see!

Oh that is a nice pattern, I love the leaves and the ease of making a new size.
It is always nice to meet new friendly knitters!!

Gorgeous pattern and great colours. Those leaves just really 'make' the sweater don't they? Fantastic. :)

They are adorable! I got the pattern from Amazon. I made one out of Knitpicks Organic Cotton, but I felt it was too small to give away. I am going to try it with worsted weight next time.

Very cute - it's a hard time to pick which one I like better - I love both those colours! I love it when people knit baby things in colours outside the "traditional" pale baby range.

I LOVE those sweaters. Way too cute! I'll have to see if I can find the pattern because baby girl #2 might just need one. :)

I love this leaf pattern because it seems the only sweater that matches the "tree of life" baby blanket which I have just finished. Do you know if I can get the instructions for this sweater as a stand alone free? I just want to do it once for a blankie/sweater set - thanks for your suggestions. MLou mspencerbenson@shaw.ca
