Yesterday we went for a drive to Tylden where our friends are building a house on their property.  They even have their own dam which is full of redfin.  Isabelle had her first taste of fishing and managed to catch 7 of them!

We took Jake our kelpie with us.  He is 11 years old now and has never learnt to swim.  Well yesterday he did because he was trying to reach his ball from the pier in the above photo and managed to fall in.  He did swim out safely (thank goodness) and then spent an hour trying to get his ball from the middle of the dam.

I went for a drive to Kyneton to the wool store there of course and bought a ball of sock yarn (which was 20% off yesterday) and another Chibi darning needle set.  I couldnt believe how many people came into the shop while I was there, very busy!  Later on we drove to Lauriston Reservoir so Paul and Isabelle could fish some more.  They didnt catch anything so Isabelle deemed it boring.  I sat on the blanket and knit a few rows of my nephew's hat.  Of course I left the pattern at home whilst rushing out the door.  Can you see the top of the photo above the gum trees.  All those white dots on the grass are cockatoos.  I am sure there are more than 100 there.  I think they must have been enjoying the sunshine we had yesterday!

Oh that is so many birds, wow!! I am glad Jake learned to swim in a milli-second!! Trying to fetch the ball gave him a job to keep him interested. Isabelle must have had beginners luck!! I hate it when you accidentally leave the pattern at home!! Sounds like a wonderful day.

I agree with Isabelle; fishing is boring if you don't catch anything!

Sounds like you had a perfect day out! I LOVE my little chibi -- I even ordered some to give out to customers if I know they're knitters (which is often hard to tell!)

Looks like a great day for fishing. I used to love fishing but now I prefer to sit at home & knit.
