Cables!

Hello - I thought I would pop into my blog and show you the progress on my knitting so far.  I have been doing a lot of cables for sweaters lately which I absolutely love.  I find them really relaxing for when I am stressed or want something more than plain stockinette.  Up above is the cabled sweater from 60 Quick Baby Knits book which is working up beautifully in the forest green yarn.  This is the front piece as I have already finished the back.  I love it when I can memorise patterns without having to refer back to the pattern.

Next up is the sweater for my other nephew.  This one is from one of the Sublime baby books and is going along fabulously as well.  Yes this is the front piece too.  I am hoping I can finish both of them and send them up as easter gifts to my nephews instead of chocolate as I dont think 1 yr olds really need chocolate.  I love how the cables pop and this yarn knits up well for kids.  It is Heirloom Dazzle which I seem to be using quite a bit of lately (acrylic yes I know) and much easier for twins' mummy to wash.
Lastly this is one of the fronts of my short sleeved cardigan.  I am knitting this in Bendigo Moorland in a beautiful red color.  Unfortunately when I blocked this I realised it was quite a bit shorter than the back piece so I now have to unpick both fronts and knit them a bit longer.  I have started the ribbing for the top section but I put it away as it was looking a bit weird in construction so I thought I needed a rest from it.

I have also been knitting on the porcupine blanket for my newest nephew but I havent pulled it out as yet to take a picture of it.  My colorwork is not fantastic and the faces on the porcupines looks a bit lumpy.  I am hoping a good soak will sort it out.  I am on the final third of the blanket so will be very happy when I have finished it.  I also have to finish up my Jerry the Musical Monkey by Rebecca Danger for Kellie (of the Charming Lochie podcast) KAL.  I have done a bit but then got distracted by other things in the basket!

Hopefully in the next week or two I will finally have some finished objects for this year.  I dont think I have completed any as yet so I will need to start doing so.  I hope all of you are having a fantastic weekend too knitting away!

They're beautiful cables, and of course I love the green one best!! I think they will love their new knits, we always received knitted things at Easter, I remember a lovely emerald green twinset. Twinsets were big in the olden days!! I think it is a good idea to have a little rest when you make a mistake.

I love doing cables too, but yours are a little more intricate than those that I have done. The twins will look great in their matching jumpers.
It is a shame to have to unpick the pink one. It will be lovely when it is done.
