Well hello there ... what have you all been up to. I have been pulling a few projects out of the box so to say to finish up. This one here is the Woobie Puppy blanket by Kris Carlson, which isnt really a blanket but more of a snuggie for babies and toddlers to hold onto while they go to sleep. Kris has a number of patterns with different animals and characters, and I am sure she has or is about to release some new ones very soon. I loved knitting this one up, although it took me a month or two to finish doing the ears, spots and the face and they were all done in 1 night so I should not have left it sit there for so long. This is going to go to one of my nephews but I am not sure which one as yet. I used Dazzle Heirloom, 2 balls of the blue and a bit of white and black. At least that way it can be put into the washing machine and mum doesnt have to worry about hand washing it.
All the other news around here hasnt been good. As you all know I always document things when they happen, whether good or bad as that is part of life isnt it and I can look back and remember things too when I need to. Our darling cat Meg passed away 2 Sundays ago. She had been ill on the Saturday and Sunday morning we couldnt find her. Our neighbours came over to alert us to the fact that she was asleep under the car, (not run over though). She must have been there all night and passed away which was heartbreaking. She would have been 14 yrs old in October, but she had a wonderful life and was very loved by us all.
Today Paul and I attended a funeral of my best friend's husband who passed away suddenly last Friday morning from a massive heart attack. I think I am still in shock and cannot believe it has happened. My friend is 65 and her husband was 73, but still you forget that people are young at heart and still think the way we do. I always remember that when my kids say that I am old that my mind isnt, it has just learnt more in life's dealings so I sometimes know the outcome whereas my kids do not. My friend has a very loving family who will make sure she is allright but I am going to try and spend lots of time with her so she doesnt stay shut away inside the house all the time. A little bit at a time they say, and I have to try and get her knitting again one day. It is all too much to think about at the moment, and it still doesnt seem real but it is. I hope that you all hug your partners and kids tonight and realise how many special people we have in our lives who help make us who we are and that we are all loved in one way or another.
I hope you all have a very happy week
xoxo

So sorry about your cat and your friend. I agree with you on hugging the ones you love :)
Sorry to hear about your cat. Take care.
Oh, I am so sad to hear that your lovely cat Meg has died. It is a comfort to think that she just went to sleep and wasn't run over. She just had a little nap under the car, cats like doing that. Oh it must have been such a shock when your friend's husband died so suddenly. She has a good friend in you and I know you will be a big help.
I hope that you have some happier times coming your way. The Woobie is so cute!! No wonder babies want to hug it. Isn't it always the way that you put off finishing something and then it takes two shakes??
sorry to hear of your friends passing, sending love to your family and friend.
also sorry to hear about your cat - it is always so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet.
on a more upbeat note - your finished puppy blanket is completely adorable.

Meg had a good, long and happy life. It's a shame that pets don't live as long as us but then if they did there'd be problems when we went. At least they get sorted, which they couldn't do for us. That sounds a bit daft but it helps me.
Cheers Gillian
So sorry to hear about your losses. Sending you positive energy!
