Catching Up

Hello there, here we are and it is nearly NYE time!  We had a very lovely quiet xmas with my parents and sister.  The kids loved all their pressies and were quite happy munching on all the nice food that we had.  Boxing Day was spent at my BIL's house as he and his partner had their twins on the 18th so there was lots of cuddles all around.  They are both beautiful but so different.  Harriett has really long dark hair and blonde eyebrows and eyelashes, whilst Atticus has fair hair and a bit curly.  Felix my 1 yr nephew looks so grown up now compared to them.  I got to see my SIL and her 3 boys, 3 under the age of 2 - I dont know how she does it with her hubby away at war.  She does a fantastic job and never complains about any of it.

Lucy our cat had 4 little kittens on the 17th of December, 2 beautiful gray ones and 2 black ones.  Sadly she got stressed out when they were 4 days old and tried to hide the 2 gray ones but didnt pick them up correctly and punctured their lungs so Lachie and I had to bury them both under the tree near the creek.  It made me angry and sad but I realised she was only trying to protect them because she was being a good mother.  She did go looking for them for 2 days which was upsetting but 12 hours later she was back to being the unstressed mother cat again and the little black kittens have now opened their eyes.  One likes to roll on its back to get tummy rubs which is so cute!

I also finished the sweater up above for my nephew and my SIL loved all 3 sweaters.  I think I knit up about 9 sweaters for all the little ones and have knit about 20,000 metres of yarn this year which is great, although the stash has been added to so it doesnt look any less than it did beforehand.  The pattern is the Barrow Boy's sweater from Henhouse Girls and Barnyard Boys.  I knit the 2 yr old size on 4.5mm needles instead of 5mm needles so the sweaters turned out perfect for them to wear this winter.

I hope that you all have a wonderful end to 2012 and a great start to 2013.  Please stay safe and be with people you love.  I am hoping to try and get some more photos of finished projects but I might not get around to it, so if I am not back here see you next year!!
