New Knits

2007 is a new year as we all know, so I decided to start some new knitting. Firstly I started the Tweedy Aran Cardigan which is designed by Norah Gaughan. I am using Rowan Aran Tweed in the Hero colorway which I purchased from Janette's Rare Yarns on ebay last year. It has thin and thick parts in this yarn, and has already snapped in one part. I will have to be more careful. I am only on the bottom part of the border so far, so do not expect major progress on this at any time soon, it may be a sweater that I do a part of a month. Next up is the King Swing jacket, which I am really liking. This is for my nephew Hayden who is turning 10 in February. I am using a woolblend crepe for this, which is machine washable. I am sure his mum will appreciate that. He is an outdoors boy, so I am sure it will get a lot of wear (I hope). I have not knit anything for Hayden since he was a baby so it is time I made another jacket for him. I am planning on making another one too in a different colorway for my other nephew Thomas who turns 5 in March. His will be in a burnt orange colorway, I assume that is what the color is. Well that is all for now, happy knitting!

That cardie pattern is lovely. Will look great in a tweedy yarn. Nora Gaughan has another gorgeous cardie on the cover of the latest Interweave Knits. She does gorgeous cable work, that woman.

What a great looking jacket. The red looks great against the grey.

Oh my gosh, I love that super cute pattern! What is it from? I hope you're planning to do the coordinating colored zipper -- that's a great detail.

The King of Swing jacket looks great. I'm sure your nephew will enjoy it. I also like the other sweater you are working on, and the colour is so pretty.

If you ever get around to making my pink dolly- Bekkie, maybe you could knit her a little cardy or something! That would be so cute. You are a beautiful knitter! I wish I could have a lesson from you.

I just noticed how good orange color complements on boys' sweaters.
I missed your past posts but Isabelle's pink cardigan is lovely, so is your sister's vest.

The Nora Gaughan cardigan is lovely - where's that pattern from? and machine-wash crepe for 10yo boy, very sensible! His mother will be most appreciative! Thanks for your lovely comments on my Swing Jacket and Baby Blanket!
